A chance to share information about the upcoming project
It’s been a busy few months for the ALL INN project, here’s the highlights!
Our latest session was in February with a security company looking to apply their technological expertise to branch out into health and care products. They engaged ALL INN for a needs analysis session with people who fit the profile of the customers they hope to attract. This will be the first of a series of sessions as they bring the product (or design) back at various stages to get more valuable input from real people. Watch this space for further information.
As well as sessions some longer term projects are underway looking at assistive technology, but always with a focus on the person using the technology and how it will best suit them. An exciting project is Activage, an EU Horizon 2020 project looking at wearables and home sensors for over-65s across Leeds, with IoT-enabled devices interconnecting people and place in an exciting new way. The technology provider for this project is Samsung and we are currently in the design phase. This is an ambitious and important project, stay tuned for updates!
ALL INN may have been quiet on the blog front for a while but we’ve been working hard in the background!
A session took place in late September which may lead to an exciting collaboration – watch this space for more details on that. We’ve been featured in a case study on the brand new Translate website, which you can read here as well as on the Doing Good Leeds website.
In addition to this we have a new session to look forward to in the New Year. It will take place on the 3rd February 2017 and is for people living with dementia and their carers, and professionals working in dementia.
A demonstration of the high tech facilities at the Clinical Skills Suite
This week has been all go for the ALL INN project. The Naidex conference in Birmingham on Tuesday was an opportunity to meet organisations with innovative independent living and assistive technology products and services. This should lead to some exciting opportunities and projects, watch this space for more information!
Our latest post comes from Phil Gleeson, Chair of FhITE and Vice-chair of Leeds Involving People’s Board who talks to us about what the groups do and plans for the future.
When equipment says no!
No one likes it when their equipment lets them down; whether it’s an office worker with a frozen laptop or a gardener with a leaky hose. But when you rely on it for day to day tasks and especially for being independent it’s absolutely essential it doesn’t fail. That’s where the Forum for Health Innovation Technology and Equipment – or FhITE – comes in.
With support from local charity Leeds Involving People, the forum exists to give members a voice on technology, aids and equipment – from raising issues to suggesting solutions.
Old Broadcasting House and Broadcasting Tower, Leeds Beckett University
The ALL INN project has some exciting events coming up.
Firstly an innovation showcase as part of the Leeds Digital Festival. This will take place in the Clinical Skills Suite at Leeds Beckett University and will feature speakers on digital innovations for healthcare from IBM and Current Care, and the opportunity to experience a smart home fitted with sensors and monitoring devices to maintain independence and safety in the home. Please click on this Eventbrite link for more information and to book your place.
The ALL INN project works with some great partner organisations from across Leeds, and would like to take this opportunity to shout about them!
ALL INN organises sessions for Assistive Technology providers to consult with people who use services or have particular medical conditions or needs. People can contact us directly to sign up but in order to reach as many people as possible and tailor who we approach we work with some key partner organisations. Continue reading →
