Earlier in August the ALL INN project organised a session for Tunstall, a provider of pioneering technology-enabled care technology and solutions.
A productive session leading to two new designs being investigated for potential production took place on 4th May 2016. The ALL INN project hosted Doability, a Leeds based independent living aids retailer and manufacturer, in a pop-up event at Leeds Beckett University.
The purpose of the session was to develop a prototype door handle opener for people with reduced grip, as those currently on the market don’t always fit the bill. We brought people together from a variety of backgrounds, including people with arthritis or reduced grip, Occupational Therapists (OTs) from Assisted Living Leeds and students, some working on placement with Doability and using computer aided design (CAD) skills, and some from Leeds Beckett’s Product Design course.

This week has been all go for the ALL INN project. The Naidex conference in Birmingham on Tuesday was an opportunity to meet organisations with innovative independent living and assistive technology products and services. This should lead to some exciting opportunities and projects, watch this space for more information!
Our latest post comes from Phil Gleeson, Chair of FhITE and Vice-chair of Leeds Involving People’s Board who talks to us about what the groups do and plans for the future.
When equipment says no!
No one likes it when their equipment lets them down; whether it’s an office worker with a frozen laptop or a gardener with a leaky hose. But when you rely on it for day to day tasks and especially for being independent it’s absolutely essential it doesn’t fail. That’s where the Forum for Health Innovation Technology and Equipment – or FhITE – comes in.
With support from local charity Leeds Involving People, the forum exists to give members a voice on technology, aids and equipment – from raising issues to suggesting solutions.

The ALL INN project works with some great partner organisations from across Leeds, and would like to take this opportunity to shout about them!
ALL INN organises sessions for Assistive Technology providers to consult with people who use services or have particular medical conditions or needs. People can contact us directly to sign up but in order to reach as many people as possible and tailor who we approach we work with some key partner organisations. Continue reading
The first ALL INN session took place on 27th January, with Buddi bringing along their classic and updated systems, and a new system currently in development for people at risk of type 2 diabetes.
We had a great turn out, with a mix of people with type 2 diabetes, specialist diabetes GP and Commissioning Manager for Adult Social care, as well as Telecare staff members and the Head of Assisted Living. Continue reading
